Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee

Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee is Milwaukee's only funding federation with an emphasis on Social Justice. Community Shares consists of over 50 member agencies that address the causes of problems by involving those affected. They promote personal responsibility and community action.

Community Shares agencies:

Fight to reduce crime and drug abuse, racism, sexism, homophobia, unemployment, homelessness and child abuse.
Protect civil liberties, consumer and human rights.
Improve neighborhood redevelopment, environmental progress, voter education, working conditions, conditions for women, and the education of our children.
Provide shelter and skills for the homeless, job preparation, women offenders programs, promotion of peaceful solutions, animal welfare programs and advocacy for the elderly and those with disabilities.

Workplace Giving:

Workplace giving allows employees and managers the opportunity to work together in a major charitable campaign - and enables employees to pledge money either to individual charities or to a federation representing several charities. While many employees donate cash, most prefer the ease of payroll deduction. With payroll deduction, a small amount is automatically taken out of a paycheck every pay period by the company, dividing the donation into several smaller donations.
