Esperanza Unida's Business Committee

We have formed a Business Committee comprised of community leaders from various Milwaukee area businesses. This committee's input is especially important now as businesses all over this community have a critical need for work-ready employees, and people need direct connections to businesses and employers.  The role of this committee is to develop dialogue and relationships with Milwaukee's business community.  The committee functions as an input mechanism to Esperanza Unida, steering and supporting current and planned programs and services.  We are always looking to refine our model and we need business' input for creating and supporting that fundamental part of our infrastructure. This committee also provides businesses access to qualified employees.

Through our formal strategic planning process, we identified these needs to be addressed with the help of our Business Committee:

    1. Training and placing people - youth and adults - in jobs that pay family-supporting wages.
    2. Creating community institutions that serve everybody.
    3. Creating businesses that pay salaries sufficient to support families.
    4. Creating structures to provide economic support for agency self-sufficiency.
    5. Providing support systems for small business development (Business Associations, Consulting, Information Transfer/Support Services/Technical Assistance)
    6. Putting the forces of the business community to work by addressing other areas of need.
    7. Technical assistance to analyze projects, business opportunities, marketing plans, etc.
